Do or die situation for Apple's iphone in 2012 - A survey

As I have posted an article regarding debate over ICS and IOS earlier, its time to discuss about the Android share of smartphone sales that has attained a mammoth victory during 2011.There is no doubt that Google's Android share gonna rock this year pretty much better than last one.

According to the source from NPD group,a leading market research company,Apple's IOS holds the share of smartphone sales at the rate of 29 percent as of Oct 2011.IOS have seen only 8 percent improvement when compared to its share rate in 2010.Meanwhile,Android holds the share of smartphone sales at the rate of 53 percent as of Oct 2011 which improves its growth rate with 11 percent when compared to its share rate in 2010.

Since, both Apple and Android dominates the market share, there is hare and tortoise race between them. Apple needs to have more focus on competing Google's Android by providing unique features that are not available in Android yet. Moreover,it should reconsider some of the issues over IOS and urges to deliver amazing Ice Cream Sandwich features like multitasking, facial unlocking and other prespectives. If not Apple could do this, then Android gonna be the top gainers in the market sale.

The chart shows the quick growth of Android from 2006 to 2011.

It has been stated from the graph that RIM and Windows Mobile are the two big losers over the past 5 years.RIM (Blackberry Mobile) and Windows Phone need to put huge efforts in order to get into the market again and there is a big challenge lying over for both companies this year.Symbian OS has been knocked out from the race as it gets declined from the year 2007.
